Which NFL games does Layup cover?

Every game on the NFL schedule, for all 32 clubs. Layup reads the provider's active-team list rather than a list someone typed once, so a relocation or a rename arrives without a release on our side.

The honest boundary: the NFL is one filter, not a tree. There is no AFC, no NFC and no division scope — you follow the league or you follow a club, and there is nothing in between. What an NFL alert looks like

A score post carries both clubs in their team colours, the score, the quarter and clock, and a footer. The footer is the part worth knowing about, because it is on every score post in every sport and needs no setup at all:

The check mark sits next to whichever side is currently covering the spread, recomputed from the live score every time the post updates, so it flips as the game moves. The total reads U 47.5 until the combined score crosses the line and then reads O 47.5. A push shows no check mark. This is a property of the score post itself — it is not an alert you switch on, and there is nothing to configure.

How do I add NFL scores to my Discord server?

1. Authorise Layup on the server you manage. You need the Manage Server permission — the command is restricted to it.
2. Go to the channel you want scores in. A feed belongs to the channel you create it in.
3. Run the command, scoped how you want it:

/layup add league:nfl

league and team are autocomplete fields — start typing and Discord searches as you go. Because Layup covers seven sports, a shared name disambiguates across them, so Giants offers you the football club and the baseball one separately. One naming note, because it trips people up at exactly this step: Discord now calls bots apps throughout its own interface. The button reads Add App, the listing lives in the App Directory, and the authorisation screen is titled with the app name rather than the word bot. A Discord sports app and a Discord sports bot are the same thing.

Which alerts fire during an NFL game?

Feeds post six categories of event, toggled per feed. Mapped to what actually exists in the NFL pipeline — and two of these are not what you would guess:

The one to be careful with is Scoring. Touchdowns live in that category and nowhere else, so switching it off silences the touchdowns while leaving quarter breaks and momentum posts running — which reads like a broken feed rather than a configured one.

Betting alerts are off if you run a bare /layup add with no options at all. Naming a sport, a league or a team turns them on.

Will it post during Sunday's early window when 8 games are live at once?

This is the real question for an NFL server, and the answer is that two separate dials move when you scope a feed — and they move in opposite directions. Narrowing a feed makes it post more and ping less.

So for a one-o'clock window with eight games running, a league-scoped feed is the setting that behaves: every category posts, but only the big plays actually notify anyone. A team feed is deliberately the loudest thing Layup does, on the reasoning that if you asked for one club you want all of it.

You do not choose any of this — it is what you get by leaving the notifications option off, which is why the option is documented as “omit for smart default based on scope”. To override it, the option takes five values: All Notifications, Big Plays, Betting, Game Start & End, and Silent. Silent still posts everything; it just stops pinging.

The numbers Layup uses to decide an NFL game got interesting

Momentum alerts are not a vibe — each one is a threshold, and they are tuned per sport. The NFL numbers are set in football scoring units, so they read as one, two and three scores rather than as round numbers:

Each prop alert fires at most once per player and stat per game — once when the player enters the hot zone, once if the line is cleared — so a quarterback grinding past a passing line does not produce a stream of near-identical posts.

Does it cover the playoffs and the Super Bowl?

Yes. Playoff games and the Super Bowl are NFL games on the same schedule feed as any other, so a feed that follows the NFL or one of the teams playing posts them with no change on your side.

Can I follow just one team?

Yes. Run /layup add and set the team option; start typing and Discord searches as you type. A team feed is the loudest setting there is — it applies no category filter at all and every post pings.

Can I put different teams in different channels?

Yes. A feed belongs to the channel you ran /layup add in, so run it once per channel with a different team each time. There is no server-wide setting to fight with.

Does it post player props for every NFL game?

No, and the boundary is worth knowing. Prop alerts resolve the over side only, they need the provider to publish a line for that player and stat, and any line at or below 0.5 is skipped — so there are no anytime-touchdown props. A prop that stays under never fires anything.
