Which NFL games does Layup cover?

Every game on the NFL schedule, for all 32 clubs. Layup reads the provider's active-team list rather than a list someone typed once, so a relocation or a rename arrives without a release on our side.

The honest boundary: the NFL is one filter, not a tree. There is no AFC, no NFC and no division scope — you follow the league or you follow a club, and there is nothing in between. That is a real difference from college football Discord bot coverage, where each FBS conference is its own filter. If you want the AFC North in one channel you run four team feeds in it, which works and is the whole workaround. Does it cover the preseason and the playoffs?

Both, because the bot never asks. Each poll fetches the day's games by date and applies no season-type filter — an August preseason game posts the way a Sunday in October does, and the provider lists them. The playoffs ride the same path: the bot marks a postseason game internally, which only removes the tie option from the prediction poll, and nothing else changes. A Wild Card game posts as a game, with nothing on the embed calling it one.

What an NFL alert looks like

A score post carries both clubs in their team colours, the score, the quarter and clock, and a footer with the live line on it:

That reads: Kansas City are covering the 3.5 as of the last update, and the two sides have not yet combined for 47.5 points. Both halves recompute on every update — the check mark switches sides the moment the margin does, and the total flips to O 47.5 when the game crosses it. Every score post in every sport carries one; what Layup posts in your channel has the rest of the mechanic.

How do I add NFL scores to my Discord server?

You need Manage Server on the server, and you run the command in the channel you want the scores in — the feed belongs to that channel, not to the server:

/layup add league:nfl

league and team autocomplete as you type, which is how Giants resolves to the football club rather than the baseball one — the row Discord shows you names the sport, not just the team. Swap league:nfl for a team to narrow the channel to one club. One naming note, because it trips people up at exactly this step: Discord now calls bots apps throughout its own interface. The button reads Add App, the listing lives in the App Directory, and the authorisation screen is titled with the app name rather than the word bot. A Discord sports app and a Discord sports bot are the same thing.

Which alerts fire during an NFL game?

Feeds post six categories of event, set per feed by its preset or its scope. Mapped to what actually exists in the NFL pipeline — and two of these are not what you would guess:

The one to be careful with is Scoring. Touchdowns live in that category and nowhere else, so switching it off silences the touchdowns while leaving quarter breaks and momentum posts running — which reads like a broken feed rather than a configured one.

Will it post during Sunday's early window when 8 games are live at once?

This is the real question for an NFL server, and the answer is that two separate dials move when you scope a feed — and they move in opposite directions. Narrowing a feed makes it post more and ping less.

So for a one-o'clock window with eight games running, a league-scoped feed is the setting that behaves: every category posts, but only the big plays actually notify anyone. A team feed is deliberately the loudest thing Layup does, on the reasoning that if you asked for one club you want all of it.

None of that is a setting anyone picked. It is what the notifications option does when you leave it off, which is why the option describes itself as “omit for smart default based on scope”. Choosing a value explicitly replaces the whole ladder above with one fixed mode; the five it takes are in step 5 of the setup guide.

The numbers Layup uses to decide an NFL game got interesting

Momentum alerts are not a vibe — each one is a threshold, and they are tuned per sport. The NFL numbers are set in football scoring units, so they read as one, two and three scores rather than as round numbers:

Each prop alert fires at most once per player and stat per game — once when the player enters the hot zone, once if the line is cleared — so a quarterback grinding past a passing line does not produce a stream of near-identical posts.

Does it cover the playoffs and the Super Bowl?

Yes. Playoff games and the Super Bowl are NFL games on the same schedule feed as any other, so a feed that follows the NFL or one of the teams playing posts them with no change on your side.

Can I follow just one team?

Yes. Run /layup add and set the team option; start typing and Discord searches as you type. A team feed is the loudest setting there is — it applies no category filter at all and every post pings.

Can I put different teams in different channels?

Yes. A feed belongs to the channel you ran /layup add in, so run it once per channel with a different team each time. There is no server-wide setting to fight with.

Does it post player props for every NFL game?

No, and the boundary is worth knowing. Prop alerts resolve the over side only, they need the provider to publish a line for that player and stat, and any line at or below 0.5 is skipped — so there are no anytime-touchdown props. A prop that stays under never fires anything.

Is it free?

Yes, with no paid tier. A feed following all 32 clubs costs exactly what a feed following one club costs, which is nothing — no server limit, no feed limit, and no account to create.
