Layup Inc. is the legal entity behind everything on this site. It is the operator named in the terms of service and the privacy policy, and it is the entity in this page’s structured data.

Layup Inc. is a financial technology company; Layup for Discord is its sports entertainment product. Those are two different things and this page is only about the second one — the bot has no financial component, asks for nothing financial, and could not accept it if you offered.

How the bot is paid for

It is free, there is no paid tier, and that invites an obvious question. The answer is that Layup Inc. funds it: in return for providing the bot free, the company gets the opportunity to communicate directly with sports fans. That is the entire arrangement.

What it does not involve is documented rather than asserted. The privacy policy states what the bot stores — Discord identifiers and feed preferences — and that none of it is used for advertising or sold on. The bot serves no ads, and it never collects an email address, a real name or a payment detail, because nothing in it is built to.

What the bot asks of your server

Adding any bot to a Discord server is a permissions decision, and it is usually made by someone who did not go looking for the bot. The permissions page lists all fourteen permissions the install prompt requests, what each is used for, and the six that have no call site in the bot at all and are queued for removal. It is written to be forwarded to whoever runs the server.

Why layup.gg is its own site

The Discord bot has its own domain, its own terms and its own privacy policy because it is a genuinely different product with a different reader. Nobody adding a scores bot to a group chat should have to read a financial-services document to find out what it stores.

If the bot is already in your server there is a faster route: it creates a #layup-support channel at install, and messages posted there are relayed to the support team and answered in the same channel. That behaviour is described in the privacy policy, because relaying a message is data handling and should be disclosed as such.
