Layup Discord bot commands
Layup has exactly two slash commands. /layup add creates a sports feed in the channel you run it in and takes five optional options; /layup remove deletes a feed from that channel and takes none. Both require the Manage Server permission.
/layup add
Creates a feed in the current channel. Every option is optional — running it bare is valid and gives you everything.
/layup addOr scoped, in a single line:
/layup add sport:Football league:ncaaf categories:Everything| Option | What Discord says | Values |
|---|---|---|
sport | Sport to follow (omit for everything) | Baseball, Basketball, Football, Golf, Hockey, Motorsport, Soccer |
league | League to filter (start typing to search). Omit for all leagues. | Autocomplete |
team | Team to filter (start typing to search). Omit for all teams. | Autocomplete |
categories | Event categories to post. Omit for smart default. | Six presets — see below |
notifications | Notification mode. Omit for smart default based on scope. | All Notifications, Big Plays, Betting, Game Start & End, Silent |
The six categories presets
The categories option takes one preset — a bundle. These are not the individual alert types, which are a separate surface covered in the next section. Choosing a preset here is a shortcut, not a substitute for it.
| Preset | Roughly |
|---|---|
| Everything | No filter — every event type the sport produces. |
| Scores Only | Game start, score changes and finals. |
| Betting + Scores | Scores plus betting outcomes. The one-command betting setup. |
| Player Highlights | Individual performances and milestones. |
| Player Highlights + Betting | Both of the above. |
| Highlights (no betting) | Highlights with every betting event suppressed. |
The six alert types
After a feed exists, a select menu lets you toggle its individual alert types: play-by-play, momentum, milestones, betting, penalties and goals. This is a different control from the categories option above — that one picks a bundle when you create the feed, this one edits the feed afterwards.
What each produces depends on the sport. The college football Discord bot page maps all six onto a football game as a worked example.
/layup remove
Removes a feed from the current channel. It takes no options — run it in the channel whose feed you want gone.
/layup removeWhy the smart default is not a choice
Both categories and notifications say “omit for smart default”. That is literal: there is no “Auto” value in either dropdown. The tuned behaviour is what you get by not choosing, and picking any explicit value replaces it. If you are hunting the menu for an Auto option, that is why you cannot find it.
Command FAQ
- How many commands does Layup have?
- Two: /layup add and /layup remove. There is no dashboard and no web app.
- Do I have to fill in the options?
- No. Every option on /layup add is optional. Leaving all of them blank gives you a feed covering everything, with a sensible default volume.
- Who is allowed to run the commands?
- Anyone with the Manage Server permission on that server. The command is restricted to it, so ordinary members cannot add or remove feeds.
