College football Discord bot — live CFB scores in your server
Layup is a free Discord bot that posts live college football scores into any channel. It covers all ten FBS conferences plus FBS Independents, updates scores every five seconds while games are live, and takes two commands to set up. There is no account to create and no paid tier.

Which college football games does Layup cover?
Every FBS conference, as a filter you can scope a channel to. Following college football broadly gets you all of them; naming one gets you that conference only.

The honest boundary: FCS teams appear only when they play at an FBS school, and coverage of them is partial — our provider gives non-FBS teams no conference, so they share one bucket. Most sports bots do not tell you where their data stops. This is where ours does.
What a college football alert looks like
A score post carries the two teams in their school colours, the current score, the clock and quarter, and a footer. The footer is the part worth knowing about, because it is on every score post in every sport and it needs no setup at all:

The total reads U 52.5 until the combined score crosses the line, then it reads O 52.5. A push shows no check mark. This is live line tracking carried on the score post — it is not an alert you turn on, and there is nothing to configure.
How do I add college football scores to my Discord server?
- Authorise Layup on the server you manage. You need the Manage Server permission — the command is restricted to it.
- Go to the channel you want scores in. A feed belongs to the channel you create it in.
- Run the command. Leave every option blank to get everything, or scope it:

Because Layup covers seven sports, typing a shared name disambiguates across them, so Tigers offers you the college football team and the baseball one separately. Which alerts fire during a college football game?
Feeds post six kinds of event, and you can toggle them per feed after you add it. Mapped to what actually happens in a college football game:

| Play-by-play | Structural bookends only: kickoff, end of each quarter, halftime, overtime start, final. Not individual plays. |
| Momentum | Scoring runs, lead changes, comeback watch, clutch time, blowout — and upset watch, which is a college-only event the NFL pipeline does not emit. |
| Milestones | Individual performances crossing a notable mark. |
| Betting | The total crossing the over, a player prop resolving, and a player approaching a prop line. Not picks, not odds. |
| Penalties | Nothing. The two penalty events in the bot are hockey ones — there is no football flag alert. |
Betting alerts are off if you run a bare /layup add with no options — an unscoped feed posts play-by-play only. Naming a sport, a league or a team turns them on. Note that prop alerts skip lines at or below 0.5, so there are no anytime-touchdown props.
How loud is it on a Saturday?
This is the real question for a college football server, because a Saturday has sixty-plus FBS games running at once and no other sport does that.
The answer is that volume tunes itself to how wide your feed is. Follow college football broadly and you get the wide-scope default: starts, finals and the big swings, not every drive in every game. Follow one school and you get that school's every possession, because a team feed applies no category filter at all. You do not choose this — it is what you get by leaving the notifications option off, and it is why the option is documented as “omit for smart default based on scope”.
If you want to override it, the option takes five values: All Notifications, Big Plays, Betting, Game Start & End, and Silent. Silent still posts everything — it just stops pinging. There is no “Auto” in that list; auto is the absence of a choice.
College football Discord bot FAQ
- Does it cover FCS games?
- Partly, and only where an FCS team plays at an FBS school. Our data provider gives non-FBS teams no conference, so they share a single bucket and coverage there is incomplete. If you follow an FCS program specifically, this is not the bot for you yet.
- Does it post bowl games and the College Football Playoff?
- Yes. Bowls and Playoff games are college football games like any other — if you follow college football or one of the teams playing, they post.
- Can I follow just one school?
- Yes. Run /layup add and set the team option; start typing the school name and Discord searches as you type. A team-scoped feed posts everything for that team and nothing else.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no paid tier. No server limit, no feed limit, no slower updates for free servers, and no account to create.
- Can I put different conferences in different channels?
- Yes. A feed belongs to the channel you ran /layup add in, so run it once per channel with a different league each time — SEC in one, Big Ten in another.
