Which MLB games does Layup cover?

Every game on the schedule for all thirty clubs. Baseball has one filter under it — league:mlb — and the clubs, grouped by division below, are the values the team option accepts.

The honest boundary: two of the eight prop markets barely fire. Any line at or below half a unit is skipped, and home-run and stolen-base lines usually sit there, so a feed with Betting on will see strikeouts and bases resolve and almost never a home-run prop. Clutch time never fires either: the shared detector needs a game clock and baseball has none. Most sports bots do not tell you where their data stops. This is where ours does.

Does it cover spring training and the postseason?

Both, because the bot never asks. Each poll fetches the day's games by date and applies no season-type filter — on a March date the same call returned sixteen spring-training games, and they post like any other. October is the same path: the provider marks postseason games with a season type the bot writes down and never reads, so a Wild Card game posts as a game, with nothing on the embed saying playoffs.

What an MLB alert looks like

A score post carries both clubs in their colours, the score and the inning as Top 7th or Bot 9th — extra innings are just higher numbers, never an “overtime” — and a footer with the live line on it. The start post is labelled First Pitch and names the starting pitchers when the provider lists them; the final carries a top-performer recap.

The Yankees are covering the run line at that moment and the game has gone past eight and a half runs. A baseball total is small enough that one rally moves it, and the footer is recomputed from the live score every poll. The footer sits on every sport's posts and is described once, on the home page.

How do I add MLB scores to my Discord server?

You need Manage Server, and the command runs in the channel you want the scores in:

/layup add league:mlb

Set the team option instead to follow one club — start typing and Discord searches as you type. Baseball's abbreviations collide with the other sports (BOS, SEA, KC, SF) so the suggestion reads Dodgers · Baseball · MLB and picking it settles the sport. Which alerts fire during an MLB game?

Feeds post six categories of event, set per feed by its preset or its scope. Mapped to what actually happens in a ballgame:

Two things a baseball feed never posts: a clutch-time alert, because the shared detector needs a game clock and baseball has none, and a walk-off home run twice: home runs post while a game is in progress, walk-offs when it goes final, so the two never overlap.

It's a 162-game season — how do I not get 2,430 game threads?

By scoping the feed, and then leaving the two volume options alone. Fifteen games a day for six months is the loudest calendar in the bot, and the defaults are built around it. Scoped to league:mlb, a feed posts every category but pings only on the big plays — the walk-offs, the no-hitter watches, the six-run blowouts — and a first pitch or a final never notifies anyone. Scoped to one club, the feed is one game a day and pings on all of it, on the reasoning that if you named a club you want the RBIs.

For a channel that should exist but never buzz, set notifications to Silent: every post still lands, nothing pings. For the opposite — pings for first pitch and final only — Game Start & End is thirty pings on a full slate and no more. Step 5 of the setup guide lists the five modes.

The numbers Layup uses to decide a ballgame got interesting

Baseball's thresholds are counted in runs and innings rather than points and minutes, and its blowout rule is the one sport-specific override in the bot: the shared detector wants a period to start counting from, and an inning is not one, so the handler decides it directly.

No-hitter watch is a ladder rather than a single alert: it opens at five hitless innings and is re-posted with rising priority at the seventh and the ninth, so a feed on Big Plays hears about it once it is real and again when it is close.

It is a 162-game season — how do I not get 2,430 game threads?

Scope the feed and let the defaults do it. A league feed posts every category but only pings on the big plays; a team feed is one game a day; Game Start & End mode pings twice per game and no more. On a full fifteen-game slate the widest scope is thirty pings, first pitch and final.

Which clubs are missing?

None. All thirty are listed with a team value, the Athletics included, and every division shows five. The provider sends the Athletics with no city field, so they read as Athletics rather than a city plus a nickname — the same way every club in the bot is named by its nickname alone.
