Score posts, and the events inside a game worth interrupting people for — scoring drives, goals, momentum swings, milestones and finals. Each arrives as a Discord embed in the teams' colours and updates in place as the game moves, rather than stacking a new message every time the score changes.

Every score post carries a footer with the live line on it: ✓ BOS -1.5 · O 6.5 · NHL. The check mark sits beside whichever side is covering at that moment and the total reads under or over, both recomputed from the live score on every update, so both halves move as the game does. A push shows no check mark. It is on by default in all seven sports and there is nothing to configure. The NFL and college football pages read a real one line by line.

A play still unfolding does not get a new message each time a detail lands: Layup holds one message open for thirty seconds and edits it as the rest arrives, so a drive ending in a touchdown reads as one post rather than four.

Score posts are the floor. Underneath them each sport has its own detectors, and they are not one list with the nouns swapped.

Football

Scoring plays attributed to the scorer, scoring runs, lead changes, comebacks, blowouts, clutch time late in a close game.

Basketball

Triple-doubles, forty-point games, and upset watch when a lower seed leads a higher one in the tournament.

Hockey

Goals with scorer, assists and type. Hat tricks, major penalties, forty-save milestones, and shutout watch once a goalie reaches the third period with twenty-plus saves and nothing past them.

Baseball

Home runs, grand slams, RBIs, walk-offs. No-hitter watch from the sixth inning, strikeout milestones at eight, ten and twelve, and rally alerts at three runs in an inning and again at five.

Soccer

Goals with scorer, minute and assist. Red cards, and stoppage-time goals called out separately.

Golf

Hole-in-one, eagle, leader change, made and missed cut, birdie streaks from three in a row, bogey-free rounds.

Motorsport

Race start, race final with the winner, and a lead change when the laps-led leader changes.

Every one of those runs in production today. Detectors still being tuned post to a preview channel and never reach a server feed.

Also golf. Also NASCAR. Those two are the tell that the coverage list is real rather than the four sports every sports bot has.

All three. The team option is an autocomplete field — start typing and Discord searches every team Layup follows as you go.

Golfers and drivers are in that list too, because golf and motorsport are individual sports and Layup carries competitors alongside clubs. Point a feed at a driver and you get that driver's race; point one at a golfer and you get every hole of their round rather than only the ones the leader plays.

The autocomplete earns its keep because abbreviations collide badly once you cover seven sports — 152 are shared across sport boundaries. BOS is the Celtics, the Bruins and the Red Sox, and Layup does not guess which you meant; it asks.

1. Add the bot to a server where you have Manage Server.
2. Go to the channel you want scores in.
3. Run /layup add. Leave the options blank for everything, or name a sport, league or team in the same line.

That is the whole thing. There are two commands in total and no dashboard — the setup guide walks it step by step and the command reference documents all five options. The install prompt asks for fourteen permissions and Layup uses eight; the permissions Layup asks for lists every one, including the six requested today and used for nothing.

How wide you scope a feed decides two separate things, and Layup derives both from the command you already ran.

What posts. A feed scoped to one team applies no filter at all — everything that team does. A league gets all six alert types. A sport gets play-by-play, momentum, goals and betting. A feed with no scope gets play-by-play and nothing else.

What pings. The same ladder, one rung quieter. A team feed notifies on everything it posts, a league feed on the dramatic stuff, a sport feed only on game bookends. A feed with no scope never pings anyone at all — it posts in silence. Betting alerts are the one exception: they ping wherever they land, unless the feed is muted outright.

Golf solves it a third way, because a tournament has the whole field on the course at once. Per-hole birdies and bogeys go out only for the leader; a double bogey goes out for anyone in contention, meaning top ten or within five strokes. Follow one golfer and you get all of it regardless.

To override any of it, set the notifications option — Silent still posts everything, it just stops pinging. The college football page works through the hardest version of this: a Saturday with sixty games running at once.

Three alerts, all of them about an outcome rather than a pick. The over hits, and Layup says so once. A player prop resolves. Or a player is closing on one — the hot-zone alert fires when they get within a set distance of their line, tuned per sport: twenty yards in football, two points in basketball, half a unit in hockey, baseball and soccer.

Prop alerts skip any line at or below 0.5, because a binary market has no progress to track — so there is no anytime-goal or anytime-home-run alert. Betting alerts are off on an unscoped feed, and golf and motorsport feeds do not carry them at all.

Layup posts what happened, not what to bet. No picks, no parlays, no odds.

If your server follows exactly one league, a bot built only for that league may go deeper on it. Layup's bet is the other case: one install, seven sports, no second bot when the season turns over. Is Layup actually free?

Yes, and there is no paid tier to upgrade to. No server limit, no cap on how many teams or leagues you follow, no slower updates for free servers, and no account to create.

Will it spam my server?

Volume is derived from how wide the feed is, not configured. A team feed posts everything that team does and notifies on all of it; a league feed notifies only on the big moments; a sport feed notifies on game bookends. You can also set it to Silent, which still posts but stops pinging.

Do I need to configure anything?

No. Running /layup add with no options is valid: the feed watches every sport Layup covers, posts play-by-play only, and never pings anyone. Naming a sport, league or team is what widens the alert types and turns the notifications up.

Can I follow a golfer or a NASCAR driver?

Yes. Both are individual sports, so competitors appear in the same team autocomplete as clubs and franchises. Following one golfer gets you every hole of their round, not only the leader’s.

Why does it need these permissions?

The three it cannot run without are View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links. Every permission on the install prompt is explained on the permissions page, including six that are requested but unused.

What sports does it cover?

Seven: football including college football, basketball including college basketball and the WNBA, hockey, baseball, 11 soccer competitions, PGA Tour golf and NASCAR.

Does it work on mobile?

The alerts do — they are ordinary Discord messages. Installing a bot has to be done from a browser or the desktop app, because Discord does not offer the authorisation screen in its mobile app.
