Discord Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 12, 2026
This policy covers the Discord applications operated by Layup Inc.. It does not apply to the Layup mobile app or website — those are covered by our separate Privacy Policy.

Each is a separate Discord application with its own name and slash command, and they are the same service, storing the same data in the same place. "The Bot" below means whichever of them you installed.
What We Collect
When the Bot joins your server, we store your server's Discord ID, server name, and the server owner's Discord ID. We need these to set up and deliver alerts.
When a server admin runs the Bot's add command, we store the channel ID, a webhook URL for that channel, and whatever sport, league, team, and alert type preferences were selected. Running remove deletes that feed configuration.
Bet tracking
The Bot reads messages posted in your server's channels to find ones that look like a sports bet, such as a bet slip screenshot or a pick with odds. A message that fails that quick automated check is never stored or sent anywhere. A message that passes it is stored, along with its Discord message, channel, and author IDs and any image attached, and is sent to Google's Gemini model, which reads the bet out of it. We store the bet it reads (the game, the pick, the line, the odds, and the stake) and later its result. A message that passes the check is kept even when the model decides it is not a bet.
Tracked bets are private. The Bot never posts them in your server. The person who posted a bet can see their own bets through an expiring private link the Bot sends them by direct message, which opens a page on realize.tax, a site also operated by Layup. Nobody else can see them.
Server admins can turn bet tracking off for the whole server with the /bet-tracking off command. Anyone can stop the Bot tracking their bets with the "Stop tracking me" button in its direct message.
Direct messages
Support runs over Discord direct messages. When the Bot is installed it opens a DM with the administrator who installed it; if you reply there, we relay that message — including any attachments — to our internal support thread so our team can respond, and relay our responses back to you. A tracked bettor can also DM the Bot to ask for a new link to their bets. We read direct messages for those purposes and no other.
When you interact with a slash command or a button, Discord sends us your Discord user ID and username as part of the interaction payload. We log this for debugging purposes.
What We Don't Collect
The Bot does not collect email addresses, real names, phone numbers, IP addresses, device information, or location data. Outside bet tracking and direct messages to the Bot, described above, we don't store message content. We don't connect to any sportsbook account and never handle anyone's money.
How We Use Your Information
We use the data described above to:
- Deliver sports alerts to the channels you've configured
- Track the bets members post and show each member their own bets and results
- Route support conversations between your server and our team
- Remember your feed preferences so you don't have to reconfigure them
- Measure how the Bot is used and diagnose errors when something breaks
We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell it.
Third-Party Services
SportsDataIO provides the game scores, player statistics, and market data that the Bot delivers. When we call their API, we send sport-specific queries (like "NBA games on March 25"). We don't send them any Discord information — no server IDs, no user IDs, no channel data, nothing about your server.
Google hosts our servers and database (Google Cloud), and its Gemini model reads the bet out of messages that pass the bet check, as described above.
Amplitude receives usage events, such as "a bet was tracked", keyed by a one-way hash of your Discord user ID rather than the ID itself. No message content or bet amounts are sent.
Discord operates the platform the Bot runs on. Discord's own Privacy Policy governs the data Discord collects about you. We interact with Discord's API to read and send messages, create channels, and manage webhooks.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on Google Cloud SQL, encrypted at rest and in transit. Operational logs go to Google Cloud Logging and are retained for 30 days.
We don't sell your data and we don't share it with advertisers.
Data Retention and Deletion
Feed configurations created with the add command persist until you delete them with remove or the Bot is removed from your server. If the Bot is removed, your server's configuration becomes inactive but isn't automatically deleted from our database.
Tracked bets and the messages they came from are kept until you ask us to delete them.
To request deletion of all data associated with your server, or of your own tracked bets, email support@trylayup.com with your Discord server ID or user ID. We'll confirm deletion within 7 business days.
Support channel messages are retained in our internal threads for service quality purposes.
Children
The Bot is not directed at anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we've inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your Rights
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have the right to know what data we hold about you, request its deletion, and request a copy. Email support@trylayup.com with your Discord user ID and we'll handle it.
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes, we'll say so in the Bot's support DM to the administrator who installed it. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
